
The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever originating from Yarmouth county, Nova Scotia is a medium-sized sporting breed developed to lure and retrieve waterfowl. Powerful yet agile, the Toller is well-balanced, athletic, and built for endurance, with an effortless, efficient gait that reflects its working purpose. Their distinctive fox-like appearance, intelligent expression, and enthusiastic personality make them both striking and versatile. Developed in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia in the beginning of the 19th century to lure and retrieve various waterfowl. They have a distinct style of 'tolling' which consists of playing, running and jumping along the shoreline to lure ducks in.
Tollers are a medium sized retriever with males measuring from the withers 19-20 in (48-51cm) and weigh between 45-50lbs.
Females measure tend to be smaller averaging between 18-19 in and weigh roughly between 37-44lbs.
Tollers are incredibly intelligent and inquisitive.
